Grandma's Meatloaf

A classic to serve with mashed potatoes and green beans

2lbs ground bison or lean ground beef

1 cup milk or alternative

½ cup ground flax seeds

½ cup bread crumbs

½ cup chopped onion

1 egg beaten

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp dry mustard

½ tsp celery salt

¼ tsp ground thyme

¼ cup ketchup


In a large bowl, combine beef, milk, ground flax, crumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, garlic, mustard, celery salt and thyme. Mix well.

Pat mixture into a 22 x 13 x 8 cm (9 x 5 x 3 inch) loaf pan.

Spread ketchup over top of loaf.

Bake at 350 degrees F 1 to 1 ½ hours, until no pink remains.

Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes.

Remove from pan, place on platter to serve.
