Committed to producing the finest quality rice and rice products for your family. Since 1937, the Lundberg family has been growing healthy, great tasting rice while respecting and sustaining the earth. Today, the third and fourth generations carry on the family heritage by using eco-positive farming methods that produce wholesome, healthful rice, rice cakes, rice chips and risottos while improving and protecting the environment for generations to come.
Our company traces its roots back to 1937, when Albert and Frances Lundberg moved to California from Nebraska. Albert had seen the ravages of the Dustbowl that resulted from poor soil management and short-sighted farming techniques. After moving his family to Northern California’s fertile Sacramento Valley, he impresses upon his four sons the need to care for the soil.
In the 1960’s Albert’s four sons, Eldon, Wendell, Harlan and Homer saw the need to sell the rice they were growing directly to the public since it was being grown so differently from conventional rice. This gave consumers a choice in the rice they purchased and began the Lundberg Family Farms brand.
Today, over 75 yers later, the third and fourth generation Lundberg family members are still carrying on the family heritage by using eco-positive farming methods to produce wholesome, healthful rice products while improving and protecting the environment for generations to come.
At Lundberd Family Farms, we don’t grown typical conventional rice. All our Certified Organic and Eco-Farmed rice is grown with a concern for the environment. We treat the soil, air and water as important resources, respecting the delicate balances of nature.
Non-GMO commitment – Lundberg Family Farms is a proud participant in the Non-GMO Project, a non-profit organization created by leaders representing all sectors of the organic and natural products industry in the U.S. and Canada, to offer consumers a consistent non-GMO choice for organic and natural products.
Lundberg Family Farms has been an early leaded in organic farming, energy conservation and renewable energy, providing safe and fair working conditions, and many other practices that are being environmentally and socially responsible. However, with one of our core values being continuous improvement, we know there is always more to do when it comes to sustainability and inspiring greater change beyond just us.
As a member of the Sustainable Food Trade Association (SFTA), we’ve signed a pledge committing to reporting annually the company’s performance in the 11-action categories that include organic and land use, distribution and sourcing, energy, climate change and emissions, water use and quality, solid waste reduction, packaging and marketing materials, labour, animal care, sustainability education and governance and community engagement.
Each year, Lundberg Family Farms audits our performance in these areas, publishes the findings in our annual SFTA Sustainability Report, and makes it available to our customers and consumers.
Whole Grains- Although we produce both brown and white rice, the whole grain goodness of brown rice has a special place in our hearts. That’s why we label all of our whole grain products with the Whole Grain Stamp; so you know just how much of those delicious whole grains you’re getting in each serving.
We regularly review our carefully selected growers, handlers, and processors to ensure food safety regulations and agricultural standards are consistently met. Our strict quality requirements, which range from kernel moisture to prepared rice, appearance, flavour, texture, are routinely monitored from harvest through final processing and packaging. We also work with AIB International to ensure our facilities meet superior food safety and sanitation standards.
