Winters free range or organic turkeys image

There lots of labels out there on eggs and poultry and it sure does create a lot of questions for our customers. As the trusted source for organic and natural meats we are here to clarify the ins and outs of turkeys, just in time for Thanksgiving. Which is the best, healthiest option for you and your family? Let us explain.

Free range turkeys refer to birds having access to regularly roam and graze outdoors. There are no specific requirements, such as the length of time spent outdoors or the type of environment in order to use these claims.  Many of the farms that raise these birds also do so without the use of antibiotics, growth hormones, without animal by products in their feed. This is not regulated however.

Farms that raise organic turkeys must follow the protocol outlined by the Canadian government for organic husbandry. The farms that raise these birds do so without the use of antibiotics, growth hormones, without animal by products in their feed. Organic regulations also dictate how animals can be housed, fed, transported and slaughtered, and how their feed can be grown, processed and stored. In addition the farms are inspected by a third party governing body.  Lots of extra value on the organics side.

It all comes down to whether you want the turkey plus or the turkey plus, plus! Either way you choose we have the best and freshest selection to help you create a Thanksgiving your friends and family will remember for years to come. Happy celebrations to you from CNF.
