Monday April 04, 2016

Don’t let these micro-sized seeds deceive you, chia seeds are packed with plenty of nutrients!  Chia seeds come in black and white, but both have similar nutritional value. They have 11 grams of fibre in just one ounce, which is about one third of the daily intake for adults, as well as 4.4 grams of protein, and 30% of recommended manganese intake in a one ounce serving.  However you use your chia seeds, just be sure to have some floss handy because they tend to get caught in your teeth!  We’ve made it simple to add chia seeds to your every day meals with 7 ways below!

1. Egg Replacer in Baking – 1 tbsp of chia seeds replaces one egg in a recipe.  Simple mix 1 tbsp of chia seeds with 2 tbsp of warm water in a small bowl.  Mix well and let it sit for 15 minutes.  Once it’s created a gel like mixture, it’s ready to use! Try this in some Gluten-Free Coconut Pancakes

2. Chia Pudding – Chocolate Chia Pudding, Pumpkin Pie Chia Pudding Parfait

3. Thicken Overnight Oats

4. Add to Granola Bars – Easy No Bake Granola Bars, Hemp Seed Granola Bars
