A large group of natural health product manufacturers, importers and distributors in Canada have joined forces to ensure retailers and consumers continue to have access to a broad range of new and existing Natural Health Products that Canadian consumers have relied on to keep their family healthy for so many years.

In order to preserve this access, we need you to send a clear message to our federal politicians.

There is a legitimate concern that as of April, 2010 many of the natural health products being sold will not be licensed for sale, and the availability of new Natural Health Products (NHP) will be significantly reduced unless improvements are made to the product licensing process. This will have a major impact on the industry's revenues, profitability, and viability in Canada.

In 2004, new NHP regulations were implemented to ensure Canadian consumers had access to a wide variety of safe, high quality and effective natural health products.

While our industry stringently endorses the manufacture and distribution of safe and effective products, the past 5 years have proven extremely challenging with a licensing rate of less than 35% for products that have been available in Canada and around the world for so many years.

With Health Canada's deadline of April 2010, our industry is approaching a breaking point. We want to alert you to the significance of this situation.
