Sandy Beach Restoration Project

Interfaith Food Bank
In the past Community has had seasonal campaigns to gather food for the food bank. At our Stampede Breakfast this year we helped to raise 600lbs of food and $315.89 in cash donations for the Food Bank.
The Calgary Interfaith Food Bank is a charitable organization dedicated to gathering and distribution of quality emergency food to those in need. The majority of their clients are the working poor struggling to make ends meet, occasionally unable to do so. Their Mission is to provide quality emergency food to those in need.

Rasta
Community Natural Foods supports Rasta by donating food from our produce departments. Rasta is a non-profit registered charity devoted to animal rescue and public education. RASTA is located just 10 minutes south of Calgary where we offer sanctuary to stray, abandoned and abused animals
Alberta Wilderness Society
Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) played host to the 18th Annual Climb & Run for Wilderness, which saw almost 1200 participants climbing the 802 stairs to the top of the tower, raising $110,000 that will go directly to the organization's efforts to conserve and protect our province's wild lands, wild waters, and wildlife.

Arusha Centre
Community Natural Foods supports the Arusha Center through their Calgary Dollars Program. We sell our gift certificates at the monthly Calgary Dollars Potluck only. These gift certificates can be then used at our stores

Mustard Seed
For nearly 25 years, The Mustard Seed has worked to foster meaningful, lifelong change in the lives of Calgary’s homeless. Together with organizations such as Community Natural Foods they care for the most essential and urgent needs of the less fortunate with food, clothing and shelter. The Mustard Seed also provides the tools, training and community needed to help the homeless rebuild broken lives and, ultimately, realize the dream of a better future.

Books for Schools Program
Nature Watch Partners offers a program under which benefactors buy copies of Wild Alberta at the Crossroads at a discount and donate them to Alberta’s school libraries. In return, Nature Watch helps promote the benefactors’ environmentally and socially friendly products and services. Only donors engaged in the new green economy are accepted into the program. Community Natural Foods has donated several copies to date.
The book shows what is at stake, the major environmental issues, and how, together, we can and must become actively involved in ecologically sustainable solutions. How vigorously we take up this challenge and put Alberta’s house in order will determine our legacy – and our children’s future. For more information visit:

Youth for Sustainability
Youth for Sustainability was created as a way to discover, motivate and enable Canadian youth to design how they want to see their future unfold. If you are a youth under 25 you can submit your competition idea online for the chance to see your dream become a reality. Youth for Sustainability is sponsored by Spiral Table™, comprised of Canadian business leaders in the fields of health and sustainability. The supporting businesses of the competition include: Community Natural Foods, Conscious Brands™, Genuine Health, Ontario Natural Food Co-op, Left Coast Naturals, Sequel Naturals, Three Point Vision and Alive Magazine.
Here is how the competition works: Submit your idea from May 14, 2010- August 31, 2010 and then get your friends and colleagues to vote for your project until August 31, 2010. The top 20 ideas will move to a judging phase where the team of impartial judges will score each one, and the highest ranked ideas will be funded. Awards will be announced by September 30, 2010.
